The Elements of Printer Ink Refill Kits

An inexpensive alternative to printer ink cartridges is using an ink refill kit. These are especially helpful for those who go through a lot of ink and find themselves purchasing new cartridges over and over again. We call these types of users high volume users, and an ink refill kit is a great way to give these users the volume they need.

With a refill kit, you are able to hook up more ink to your printer, meaning that you won’t need to buy ink refills as often as you would need to purchasing cartridges. In other words, you’ll be able to save money and time by using a printer refill ink set.

If you are considering using a refill set, you should first do your research and make sure that you understand how the equipment works. This way, you’ll be able to approach your printer and its ink set with confidence and be able to anticipate any issues or unnecessary messes that could occur. There are several elements that work in combination in ink refill kits. The three main elements follow.

1. The ink itself
The printer ink is either stored in airtight bags or bottles. You will use these bags or bottles to refill the cartridges themselves. Then the ink is dispensed through the cartridge onto the paper or whatever other substance you are printing on. Whether the ink comes in bags or bottles depends upon the manufacturer you go through to purchase the ink as well as which printer model you are using.

You will be purchasing refill ink that is either black, cyan (blue), magenta (pink/red) or yellow, as these are the four colors typically used in inkjet printers. If you have a six or eight color printer, the inks you may be using could include various shades of black, light magenta, light cyan, and more.

2. The printer ink injector
This is a device that looks like a syringe and is used to inject the ink directly into the print cartridges. This, when used correctly, makes things a lot easier and helps you to avoid unnecessary messes.

3. The plug extractor
When you go to refill the printer cartridge, you have to open it. This is done with the plug extractor. This tool should be included when you initially purchase the refill kit. If it’s not included, you can purchase it from any printer supply store that sells refill kits.

Another option is to use needle pliers. However, this can cause a huge mess, so it’s much better to use the plug extractor.
